BUCKS COUNTY ROADRUNNERS 2007-2008 WINTER SERIES RULESRegistration: For club members the pre-registration fee for the series is $15 paid by Dec. 2, 2007. Later registration will be $20.00, NO EXCEPTIONS. For members registering for individual races the fee is $5 each race. For non-members the fee is $25 paid by Dec. 2, 2007. Later registration will be $30.00 for the series or $5 for each race. To be eligible for Winter Series (WS) points and mug your membership dues must be paid by Jan. 5, 2008. Club membership and the WS fee should be sent to Post Office Box 188, Newtown, PA 18940. Individual race registration can be done 45 minutes before each race. Races will begin on time.
Waiver: All runners must sign a waiver covering the entire Winter Series or that day’s race before entering any individual race.
Restrictions: Running with headphones, skates, baby strollers, baby joggers, and/or animals is not permitted at any racing event.
Volunteer Requirement: To be eligible for a WS mug and accumulate points you must volunteer at one of the races. Volunteers and Race Directors will receive five points. There will be no additional accumulation of volunteer points once this requirement is met. So even if an individual volunteers for more than one race the volunteer will only receive five volunteer points for the whole series. High school and younger students are exempt from the volunteer requirement. You may volunteer for the race of your choice by calling Eric Stern at 267-614-4950, or by e-mail at eric.stern@verizon.net. You may also sign up to volunteer while at any of the early races. Volunteers will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. NO POINTS FOR NON-VOLUNTEERS.
Times and Locations: All races are held a Tyler State Park in Newtown. You may park at the Boat House parking area. Park maps are available at the park office. The New Years day Cham-pain race starts at noon and all the other races start at 9:30 am at or near the pedestrian causeway (weather permitting). Races will begin on time.
Weather: Courses, distances and starting points may change due to weather and surface conditions. If weather conditions seem questionable call 267-614-4950 after 5 pm the day before the race - there will be a taped message. If the road to the boathouse area is closed due to the weather go to the large parking lot near the route 332 entrance.
Age Groups: Males and females each will have at least 7 age divisions: 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60-69, and 70 and over. If participation warrants it, some age groups may be further sub-divided.
Eligibility for Awards: Mugs and prizes will be awarded at the WS Banquet in March. To be eligible for an award and mug you must: be a BCRR member, pay for at least one WS race and volunteer at one WS race. The WS Banquet fee is additional.
Winter Series Point System: All individuals finishing the scheduled race will be awarded 5 points. For distances where there are shorter options (i.e. ½ Marathon, Terrible Tyler, etc.) 3 points will be awarded for finishing the shorter distance however, no additional points can be accumulated and runners will need to record their own times.
First overall male and female receive 5 points, second - 4 points, third - 3 points, fourth – 2 points, fifth – 1 point. These points will only used to determine the overall champion and will not count toward determining age group award winners.

A maximum of 9 races run will count in the points standings (excluding the informal run). If one or more race is cancelled, this number will be reduced for each race not held. The maximum number of points an individual can receive for one race is 10 overall points and 10 age group points. The maximum WS score is 95, based on 10 points for winning 9 races plus an additional 5 points for one volunteer event.
